It has been - whoops - an incredibly long time since I have updated this.
To be honest, I'm not surprised in noticing that I haven't posted since the election last November. It has all been a lot, a lot to process, a lot to think about, a lot to consider, a lot to balance and much to do.
Writing still has been happening though, here and there. At the end of 2016 I entered the review I wrote on Louise Fishman's show at the ICA in Philly into an art writing challenge, and I was really thrilled to receive an honorable mention. The piece was subsequently published by the Art Blog and the St. Claire (click for links).
Earlier this year I wrote a brand new piece on another ICA show, this one featuring works by Ginny Casey and Jessi Reaves. The piece was published by Title magazine, a publication that I was super thrilled to collaborate with.
And so that was what I was working on, during all of those pensive and introspective months, in addition to some new art works that are all very much in progress, and not really website ready. I promise to try to check in and update and post more, and expect to see some new art exhibitions soon, maybe in the fall ? and that should definitely mean some new writing. I'm thinking of writing, wanting to write, and promise to deliver more, even in the face of all that is overwhelming and distracting. Art has been, actually, a consistent source of calm, and I have no idea what I would do without it.
And so, to moving forward always, even though.
With love. <3
